New York Fashion Week has kicked off

A week dedicated to fashion has started in New York and will last until February 9. More than 100 runway shows are scheduled for the next eight days. Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Diane von Furstenberg and Ermenegildo Zegna are among those who will show the latest creations for autumn/winter 2007-2008 during the fashion week in New York.

New collections for fall 2007 will be shown at various venues throughout the New York but most of the shows will take place in giant tents in midtown Manhattan’s Bryant Park, the main home for Fashion Week in the city since 1993. Some designers have decided to stay away from the tents, including Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, which turned the ground floor of its corporate offices into a show space.

ZOOZOOM has launched Google map of New York Fashion Week. The easy to use Google map mash-up brings together a New York Street Map and/or satellite image with ZOOZOOM's own fashion show tags. The map makes it easy to find the direction of the show and get directions to and from each show.

The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show is going to take the limelight as the first one in New York. During that show celebrities from music, film and fashion industry will strut down the catwalk in red dresses designed by such American designers as Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Nicole Miller and Vera Wang. The show promotes a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease, and is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Many interesting fashion shows will take place during New York’s fashion week. Perry Ellis is scheduled to present on Friday’s opening day. Erin Fetherstone will show her fall collection this weekend. Ermengildo Zegna will launch his new Zzegna line later in the week. Some designers like Peter Soronen will show their collections in New York for the first time. Ralph Lauren is scheduled to present his ideas for autumn/winter 2007 on February 9.
