Hayden Panettiere is a Hamburg Hottie

Hayden Panettiere is a Hamburg HottieHayden Panettiere hits the red carpet with her boyfriend, Ukranian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, at the Best of Musical Gala 2010 at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday (January 30).

The 20-year-old Heroes actress, who is 5′1″, posed for photos with her 33-year-old beau, who is 6′6″!

Hayden chatted with Us Weekly at the premiere of Temple Grandin earlier this week and shared that she felt “tired of being a blonde.”

“It’s fun to change things up,” Hayden added, “and I feel I don’t have to overcompensate as much personality-wise when I have red hair as I do with blonde hair.”

Sometime Sex is fun and everyone should experiment with porn

Sometime Sex is fun and everyone should experiment with pornMariah Carey recently proved that she could be a prankster too—the crooner left hubby Nick Cannon stunned when she called his radio show and acted like a porn-crazy woman.

The singer introduced herself as Debbie from Long Island during the prank phone call to the New York show Rollin With Nick Cannon on 92.3 NOW FM.

Then she declared that she was a fan of adult films and went on to list their benefits.

"Me and my husband have a very good time when we watch porn and I don''t think it''s bad. I think if it was bad it wouldn''t exist! And I think that everyone should experiment with porn!” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

"I mean Nick, come on, you know you look at porn! Tonight when me and my husband look at porn, I already know it''s gonna be a humdinger!" she added.

Cannon soon caught on and quickly announced, "Ladies and gentleman, this is how hilarious my wife is. This is Mariah Carey calling the station talking about porn!"

Carey joked, "I don''t even know what you''re talking about! All I''m saying is stop talking bad about porn!"

Not like I was planning to watch the super bowl anyway, but...

Per Think Progress, following the urgings of the right wing including Sarah Palin,

CBS Allows Focus On The Family Advocacy Ad During Super Bowl, But Bans Gay Dating Site Ad

Their stated reason? The ad with gay content was considered an "advocacy ad" that was not "responsibly produced" and “not within the Network’s broadcast standards for Super Bowl Sunday.”

Andrew Sullivan flits in-and-out of my good graces, but when he's right, he's right:
There is one reason this ad was denied. Its gay content was deemed offensive to football fans, while an anti-abortion issues ad wasn’t.

He also notes that FotF is "Christianist and virulently anti-gay." This is true. But they're also sickening, anti-Semitic, child-abusing, sexist bigots.

Nice going, CBS.

Updated: They say: "Hey, you fool watch out! You'll get mauled by the lion's mouth." I don't think so.

Update: Andrew Sullivan has a good round-up of reaction by bloggers from both the left and the right to Obama's performance yesterday. Me, all I have to say is now that's the President I voted for!

Justice! Sweet, juicy justice!

Quoting in its entirety from the FDL News Desk...

Scott Roeder, the man who killed abortion services provider Dr. George Tiller, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in a Kansas courtroom today. The jury took just 15 minutes to deliberate on their decision, a fact bolstered by Roeder’s testimony on the witness stand yesterday, where he basically admitted to killing Tiller, while saying that it was necessary to saving the unborn. Defense lawyers had sought voluntary manslaughter in the trial, but the judge said yesterday that the jury could not consider that charge in their decision, or a lesser second-degree murder conviction.

Under Kansas law, Roeder’s sentence will be, at a minimum, life imprisonment with the possibility of parole only after 25 years.

Lady Gaga's teacup and Cheryl's hair: 2009 in fashion

Pop accessory of the year
Never in the history of fashion has so little been worn by so many, except maybe when Caligula was in charge of Rome’s dress codes. Pixie Lott worked her headbands, Lady Gaga worked her fireball breasts, Paloma Faith worked veils, corsages, feathers, miniature bowler hats ... Florence worked her legs. Basically it was like a shoot-out at the OK Corral, with Agent Provocateur standing in for the Corral, and everyone trying to outdo each other for a mention on Perez Hilton.

Whatever. 2009 was the year in which pop divas wielded unprecedented fashion influence. We’re not saying this was a good thing, but it did give rise to the majestic sight of Madonna gliding into the Met Ball in a pair of bunny ears — for the simple reason that if you’re Madonna, at some point bunny ears are what you have to do.

Disappointingly, Little Boots did not go out of her way to wear little boots. Ergo the prize goes to Lady Gaga’s teacup, without which, for a day or so at least, she would go nowhere. That’s hedonism for you.

How TV discovered fashion. In a very scary wayWhile
Dannii and Cheryl slugged it out in Cardiff, Huddersfield and Wembley in increasingly bizarre attire, Gossip Girl, The September Issue and The Hills brought high (as in you’d have to be, to wear most of it) fashion to the masses. And Olivia Palermo, star of The Hills and a genuine fashionista, bloomed into our lives. Move over, Alexa.

The we’ll have what she’s having moment
Cougar Town, ABC’s hit new TV show about a (shock! horror!) attractive fortysomething (played by Courtney Cox) who dates (pass the benzodiazepine) a younger man, may be treading where Demi and, for that matter, Eleanor of Aquitaine trod aeons ago, but it has introduced a new word to our lexicon, so we’re happy. May cougars continue to prowl.

Michelle mania.
She came, she saw, she revealed awesome biceps. Then Mrs Obama single-handedly raised the cardi from the fashion dead and turned the political wife into a fashion moment. The last time Britain fell this hard for a foreigner, she was wearing a 1950s air hostess uniform by Dior. Where’s Carla now?

The worrying tendency
Lindsay Lohan doing a Gwyneth after her debut as creative advisor at Ungaro? Mind you, half the audience wept too. Lourdes doing her mother? J.Lo singing about Louboutins (in a bid to be all brand- inclusive, she pronounced it “Lewyvittons”) then falling off hers may be a moment of genius. However only Rihanna singing Nike and Day and then cutting up all Chris Brown’s trainers will determine whether the fashion brand has truly arrived as a lyric. For now, the winner is Suri Cruise’s alleged $2 million wardrobe. You’d think that for that money she could at least get the shape of her kitten heels right.

Things you never knew you wanted
The recession may have thrown two million into unemployment (hardly any of them bankers, though) and everyone’s like, really depressed, but the flame of human invention refused to be extinguished. This year brought us the saggy crotch pant, Chanel’s jade green nail polish, jeggings, panniers, dykey brogues, Stella McCartney’s cashmere baby leggings for Gap and a hell of a lot of Beth Ditto. At various points we sort of wanted all of them.

Crikey, fashion gets a bit political
France set up a burka commission, prompting zillions of articles on the relativity of fashion serfdom. While many tried, no one convincingly argued that the platform shoe is also an instrument of oppression, rather than the best solution currently available to those who’d like to be 4in taller. In the end polemicists on both sides gave up and joined the queue for H&M’s Jimmy Choo collection. Designers, meanwhile, put snoods, hoods and the odd veil on the catwalk. Kate Moss observed that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, prompting zillions of articles on why she is a Terrible Example to Womankind.

Revenge of the internet
Whether Tavi Gevinson, the 13-year-old fashion blogger from Chicago, is a postmodern conceit, a neo-Marxist joke or, um, a 13-year-old blogger who says “amazing” a lot, 2009 was her year. First she was catapulted on to the cover of Pop, then airlifted into the front row. While Tavi brooded on the mots justes that would relay her encounter with Rei Kawakubo, eventually deciding that it was all a bit exhausting and anyway, “the most special moments are to be kept secret”, hundreds of other girls uploaded photos of outfits for members of the mylookfashion.co.uk “community” to comment on. Suddenly thesartorialist.com looks so 2008.

The have you come as Joan Collins or merely overdone the Rogaine question?
Hair reached dimensions previously witnessed only onstage at The Lion King. Cheryl’s extensions, Jedward’s postmodern (and out-of-time) nod to Tintin, Beyonce and Keira’s short-lived fringes, the forays of Drew, Agyness and Angelina into what Grazia sorrowfully referred to as Old Lady Hair, Posh’s deconstructivism, Lily Allen’s 425 shades of pink, yellow and blue ... when we weren’t discussing Afghanistan or particle accelerators, the Times fashion department was much exercised by It Hair, which totally eclipsed It Bags.

Inevitably it all imploded with that L’Oréal ad. A repentant Cheryl appeared almost naked (which is to say, without most of her extensions) on prime time TV — but humongous hair was good while it lasted and so it wins.

London is the New Paris, shoulders are the midriffs, Erdem is the new Lacroix, Uniqlo is the new Jil Sander
Sadly, no one actually wrote this. But they could have done. London Fashion Week rocked in its 25th year, even if the reigning Designer of the Year, Luella Bartley, was forced to close her business last month.

Jil Sander worked her magic at Uniqlo and the high street finally proved that it could do sleek minimalism at a minimalist price. Erdem Moralioglu, the Canadian-Turkish Royal College of Art-trained designer, emerged as a colourist and print designer of note, even as Lacroix, another colourist and print designer of note, was forced to close most of his business.

At Balmain, Christophe Decarnin spun the spotlight on to shoulders and for 12 months Balmania broke out, but already there are signs that it’s on the wane.

Who will be the next fashion god? Will we really all wear jogging pants? Has the flat shoe already had its moment? Can we ever face sequins again? Might they find a cure for catwalkitis, a syndrome affecting celebrities who think they’re starring in a fashion show when actually they’re emerging from a stage door into an evil-smelling alleyway? Stay tuned to 2010. 2009 is so over.

Taylor Swift rides high into Grammy night

Taylor Swift rides high into Grammy nightTaylor Swift has been playing in the major leagues only a short time, yet her trophy case would make even the New York Yankees jealous.

Think that's an exaggeration? Consider that 20-year-old Swift has received 78 major award nominations and won 48 times since breaking through in 2006. This includes winning six American Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards and five Country Music Television Awards. Back in November, Swift, then just 19, took home five Country Music Association Awards — including the genre's most prestigious prize, entertainer of the year.

Now, she stands to add to that total — in a big way — with nominations in eight categories Sunday night at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards. Swift (who previously had but one Grammy nomination to her name) has the second most nominations of the night, trailing only Beyonce's 10, and they include three of the biggest fields — record, song and album of the year.

Not that awards shows are the only forum for Swift's success. Her two CDs, "Taylor Swift" and 2008's "Fearless," have sold millions of copies and she's scored more Top 40 singles than any other female artist this millennium. She's also quickly proven to be a legitimate draw at the gate, as her ongoing "Fearless Tour" — set to touch down April 11 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose — has been drawing capacity crowds across the country.

"It's a meteoric rise not unlike what we've seen in recent years with the likes of the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus," remarks Rob Evans, editor of TicketMaster's music news Web site, LiveDaily.com. "What's interesting about Swift, though, is that it's easy to picture her playing concert halls for years and years."

Indeed, Swift seems unlike anything else we've seen in pop music history. There have been acts — especially those that appeal to a younger demographic — that rise from seemingly nowhere to dominate the charts (and often fade equally as fast). There have also been musicians who have won big at award shows or earned rave reviews from critics. Yet, it's hard to name anyone other than Swift who has so quickly managed to accomplish both.

Swift was first embraced by country crowds that cheered on her debut single, the 2006 ode to hunky cowboy "Tim McGraw." Her music then began to spread via the Internet — rare for a country artist — and was eagerly gobbled up by non-country listeners. In particular, she connected with Hannah Montana fans, young teens and early twentysomethings, who had no problem identifying with the personal lyrics and stories in her mostly puppy-love songs.

"I think Taylor's advantage is that she is a singer-songwriter," says Nate Deaton, general manager of the Bay Area country music station KRTY 95.3 FM. "A lot of people try to relate to that 13- to 25-year-old audience. Well, it's pretty darn hard to relate to that audience unless you are one of them.

"Swift wrote her songs from that perspective, and I think that's what appeals to the audience. It's believable because it doesn't come from a 35-year old."

With that crucial younger demographic and a solid country following at her feet, Swift then went on to conquer the rest of the world. Her songs quickly crossed over from country radio to garner much airplay on other formats, and soon millions of pop fans were singing Swift's praises. Critics, traditionally skeptical of anything so overwhelmingly endorsed by the general public, also fell under Swift's spell.

Geoffrey Himes, the noted writer who has organized the Nashville Scene publication's annual Country Music Critics Poll since its inception in 2000, was joyous in recounting what it was like to see Swift in concert.

"I caught the first show of her summer tour at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, and I was astounded all over again by her improbable combination of good writing, good singing, good looks and strong presence," he wrote in the essay accompanying the most recent critic's poll. "Maybe she's had some vocal problems on award shows, but on that night in June she sounded like the best thing to happen to American pop music in a long time as she delivered one of the truest songs about adolescence ('Fifteen') I've ever heard."

Regardless whether Swift wins big at Sunday's Grammy Awards, her biggest challenge will be in trying to sustain her popularity as she — and her fans — graduate to adulthood. That's no easy task for a young act — just ask Hanson, Debbie Gibson or Tiffany— but it's one that Swift seems well prepared to handle.

"Though she's still very young, she's already a veteran performer, and she's already a songwriter," Evans says. "To develop a deep fan base, it's important to put the work in, and she's put the work in. Her publicity machine has been amazing, but her music seems more personal and less disposable than that of many of today's other young stars."

A few short and sweet

Angelina

Angelina, ancelina, angelin

Goddamnit. Bugs Bunny is not supposed to be this scary.

Holy shit.

Ok, fair warning, this is another Saw post, but stay with me--something actually interesting (to people other than me) has happened. The shortest possible version:

Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate, the companies that produce and distribute the Saw films, respectively, have just exercised a contractual option.

Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI, has been pulled off of Paranormal Activity 2, which Paramount had hired him to direct, and they're now forcing him at contractual gunpoint to direct Saw 3D.

Now he has to direct a film he had no hand in preparing, and which oh, by the way, starts shooting in two weeks. And David Hackl, who was to have directed the new film and had done all the pre-production until this date, has been pushed out.

For me this is doubly bittersweet: I thought Greutert did a better job on VI than David Hackl did on V, and like most Saw fans, I wanted him back. But not like this.

This sure looks like really a shitty thing to do to the both of them.

Be careful what you wish for...

Bollywood's bikini babes

Former Miss India Tanushree Dutta has never stopped from flaunting her rights curves. And whenever this Bong beauty has got the opportunity she has done it in the right way.

Star kid Shruti Hassan, who made her Bollywood debut in Luck earlier this year, also joined the bikini bandwgon. Shruti, the daughter of superstar Kamal Hassan, said when her director Soham Shah narrated the script to her the bikini wasn't a big deal. The young actress said she had to work-out to get a toned body. Plus, she worked harder to maintain it.

Shilpa Shetty also wore a bikini for a song sequence in last year's hit Dostana.

Earlier, Bollywood beauties like Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi dared to wear the two-piece on screen, but actresses after them shied away from the swimsuit. The two-piece beach wear, which turns 63 this year, was invented by Jacques Heim and Louis Reard in 1946. The designer duo named it after the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands, the site of the atomic bomb testing.

Priyanka Kothari who is known as a Ram Gopal Varma discovery has always prefered to flaunt her size zero in bikini wear.

Priyanka, who flaunted her body in skimpy outfits in Fashion and cleavage-baring Dostana, says films with skin show are doing well."Where there's a demand, there's a supply. If people didn't watch such films, we would have stopped making them. Besides, I do it only if my character in a film justifies it," Priyanka said. Miguel said about Priyanka, "Priyanka too has the oomph factor. Even though she is not that tall, the way she looks and carries her swimsuit is commendable. You just can't take your eyes off her."

As far as Bollywood is concerned, the bikini has surely come of age over the years with actresses opening up to the idea of wearing sexy swimsuits on screen. In 1958, Nutan took the Hindi film industry by storm when she wore the swimming costume in Dilli Ka Thug. Her colleagues like Saira Banu and Vyjayanthimala too scorched the silver screen when they slipped into the costume for April Fool and Sangam respectively.

Delhi girl Neha Dhupia donned a bikini in the latest issue of the men’s magazine, The Man

Now, it is no more taboo and actresses like Mugdha Godse or Neha Dhupia have carried off tiny two-pieces with confidence.

Actress Minissha Lamba, who abandoned her plain Jane act with a white bikini in Kidnap, says skin show in Bollywood has now assumed a larger meaning than just its literal sense. "I wouldn't call it skin show. For me, it means women exercising their right to be beautiful ", says Minissha. We have fashion designers all over the world and now in India, who are catering to women mainly to make them look beautiful and feel beautiful. And now, clothes are a very important extension to that, " added the actress.

Mallika Sherawat has never followed any rules rather made new ones and she is the leader of this new lot.

Former Miss Universe and Bollywood beauty Lara Dutta sported bikinis in underwater thriller Blue.

Kim Sharma, who has always worn bold clothes, desires to wear the smallest bikini ever.

Not everyone can carry off a bikini well. In Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra are the stars who have done it with panache thanks to their attitude and confidence, say fashion experts. Kareena wore a lemon bikini for Tashan then slipped into a black one for Kambakkht Ishq and became the talk of the town for her size zero.

Hema Malini's elder daughter Esha Deol also flaunted her toned body in Dhoom.

Celina Jaitley says she agreed to pose in a two-piece bikini for a popular film glossy because she was inspired by international supermodel Kate Moss. "I had seen this fabulous swimwear shoot of one of my favourite models, Kate Moss. I instantly knew that I had to do something on the same lines. I was really inspired and wanted to do a shoot which is quite beautiful and of course very sensuous," Celina said. This isn't the first time that the name Kate Moss has occurred in reference to Celina. During her modelling days, quite a few members from the industry used to address her as The Indian Kate Moss. Asked if she had got the desired impact, Celina said, "Well, the way response has been so far, I guess I have. My intention was to arouse the sensuousness with beauty and dignity and not vulgarity and I have pretty much managed to achieve that."

According to Mumbai-based celebrity designer Gavin Miguel, Bipasha rocked the big screen when she wore a bikini in Dhoom 2. "Bipasha really took the audience by surprise with her bikini act in the movie. She looked hot, sexy and very confident. The best part about her is that she has got a well-proportioned body and so a two-piece looks good on her," said Miguel. Bips sizzled in bikinis in the superhit film Race, and donned some revealing outfits in Bachna Ae Haseeno.

Amisha Patel wore a yellow bikini for her underwater act in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.
