Brazilian Swimsuits - Micro Bikinis Are Sexy But What If You're Over Forty?

If you're over forty years old and contemplating what type of swimsuit you're going to buy for that cherished vacation, you might be wondering if you can still wear micro bikinis or Brazilian swimsuits. If you can, then congratulate yourself for staying in such great shape. However, for the majority of women in their 40s, 50s and 60s, buying a tiny bikini and getting daring enough to wear it in public, is just not an option anymore.

Whether you've gained a lot of weight since college, or have more sagging skin and wrinkles on your body than a Shar-Pei puppy, then you might want to consider several types of swimsuit styles that would be more appropriate for your body and your age. Of course, manufacturers will always include black suits in their swimwear lines, and black is a favorite choice among many women who want to hide certain flaws on their bodies. However, black can certainly look sexy, too, even if you're not thinking about covering up anything.

Even though swimwear designers still cater to the twenty-something crowd, women over forty don't have to feel like they need to wear a one- or two-piece bathing suit that has fabric up to the chin with a little gathered skirt to partially hide your thighs. Women over forty also don't have to look like they're copying the younger generation and are in denial about their age or their body shape.

Before we look at your options for what is age appropriate, if you do have a hard body, and you are fit, healthy, and look great in a Brazilian bikini, you just might want to save that look for the privacy of your villa or the back deck at your house. The message you send to others when you wear a skimpy suit is not just to call attention to your body, but it sends a message that says, "It's all about me." Do you really need that type of attention, or could you get just as noticed by looking classy and dressing according to your age? After all, experience is the best teacher, and you have so much more to offer than exposing your body parts on the beach or at the pool.

Here are several style options that you have at your disposal at the most elite shops today, whether at the mall or from a retail store.

- Consider buying a tankini that you can adjust to your size. It reveals only a small amount of skin, but it's super sexy.

- One-piece swimsuits with underwires help to support your bust, and some swimwear designs have used thicker fabrics like Lycra that stretch but hold in your tummy quite well.

- Look for suits that have control panels to hide or minimize your body's aging or troubled areas, such as your derriere that's dimpled, or a tummy that could use minimization, or a sagging bustline that could use a lift.

- Most definitely, look for one-piece swimsuits that have exotic cut-outs in the fabric. Many of those suits sport tiny spaghetti straps or circles at the line of your chest that reveal the soft mounds of your breasts peaking through the cut-out pattern. What's more sensuous than suggesting what's inside the swimsuit than just revealing a little bit of skin? You can be the judge of that, but if the suit fits you well, and you look good in it, then buy it.

The goal of your shopping trip is to find a swimsuit that you look good in, and it doesn't have to be a bright glowing orange bikini to call attention to the woman who's inside. So instead of worrying about fitting in with the younger crowd, you can create your own sense of style by finding a swimsuit that you'll like wearing whenever you go to the beach, on vacation, or for a swim.

Next, find the swimsuit of your dreams that fits you perfectly, and then buy several in various colors and patterns. As women, we know that once we find a garment that's perfect for our body type, it's just like shoes...we need more than one pair.
