7 Summer Wardrobe Essentials

Don’t know what to stock your closet with this summer? No worries, because this season is bringing a slew of new, and revisited trends that you’ll be sure to love. Everything from neutrals, to rompers, and everything in between so even if you don’t have the latest trends, you’ll be sure to find something in the back of your closet.

Neutrals

Neutrals have made a very strong statement on the runways this season and demanded that you not be afraid to wear them! Although neutrals can sometimes wash out a complexion, it’s important to choose the right kind of neutral for your skin color. Neutrals are also great for summer because they keep you cool and they’re super fun to accessorize. If you’re not a fan of neutral hued clothing in general, opt for a pair of neutral wedges or an over-sized leather bag.

Tropical Prints

There’s no better time to steal the tropical look than in this tropical, blistering heat! Tropical prints add a punch of color and, when paired with crisp white hues or neutrals, can look very sexy. Pick up a tropical print frock or full skirt and wear it with a white tank-top and an oversized belt.

Military-Inspired

I was never a fan of the military trend, but it seems as if stores worldwide have come to embrace the trend and so, why not give it a try? I picked up a cropped jean jacket in beige that has little military-inspired details such as the buttons and zippers. Throw it over a dress or wear it with a long tee and skinny jeans. You can also get military-inspired tube dresses, shorts, and even skirts. Just make sure to accessorize and keep everything else nice and simple!

Sailor Stripes – Go Nautical!

Arrrgghh matey, do ya love sailor stripes? If so, it’s your sailing summer! Sailor stripes have never been so hot, and now you can get sailor striped pants, shoes, shirts, jackets, skirts, ANYTHING to channel your inner sailor girl.

Shirt Dresses

Shirt dresses are the perfect summer staple because they’re super comfy, easy to wear, and you can throw them over a bathing suit. What’s more is that a shirt dress can go from a lunch date to a night on the down. Just switch your flats for a pair of heels and you’re good to go!

Circle Skirts

Circle skirts are hot right now and that’s because they look super cute when paired with flats and a fitted tank top. Pick one up in a fun, bright color or a tropical print, and pair it with a white or neutral form-fitting tank top. To add a little height, throw on some wedges!

Rompers

Love em or hate em rompers have made a huge splash this summer and that’s because they’re virtually fuss free! Think about it…you have an outfit all made for you in one piece. All you need to do is throw on some accessories and wear it with flats, flip-flops, sandals, wedges, or heels

Top 7 beach going essentials

Seeing as the weather is warming and many of you are packing for your Summer Holidays, I though why not create a top 7 beach essentials list?

Apparently straw fedoras will be big (again) this summer. To ensure “non-dime-a-dozen-ness” I say pass on that trend and opt for a pretty, wide-brimmed sunhat. Admit it, it sucks having the same hat as that girl across the street, and the one in liquor store, oh yeah…and the one sitting next to you on the sand. You catch my drift.

This J.Crew stripe beach hat in bright daffodil is pretty cute, the yellow stripe is something fresh and different for summer.

I think this summer, I am opting for a bandeau style swimsuit, although I do love the vintage glamour of this Victoria’s Secret suit…

It also comes in coral!

I will also be on the hunt for a reasonably priced straw tote to throw everything into, but until then, a brightly colored canvas one will do.

Sunscreen is definitely necessary and this Alba Hawaiian Sun Aloe Vera Sunscreen smells great and isn’t greasy. And I would be completely lost if I didn’t bring my favorite lip balm in the whole world with me. This smell of this stuff reminds me of the beach and works like a miracle.

Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment for Lips is made with cocoa butter, aloe, vitamin E and has an SPF 20 in it.

A book is essential on my beach trips. Lately I’ve had a growing fascination with the troubled and talented Zelda Fitzgerald, Save Me the Waltz is on my must-read list this summer.

There was a time in my life where I thought putting coconut oil in my ocean-wet hair was a great idea. I foolishly thought I was luxuriously moisturizing it in the summer sun while letting it air dry, when really I was cooking it. It took years for my hair to finally recover, and now I make sure to take a leave in conditioning spray with me instead. This Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner smells so good! Spraying this into ocean damp hair and tucking it up under your fancy sun hat is a better idea.

Trenches and Coats are a hot Spring-Summer 2009 Fashion Trend

Trench coats are one of the hottest trends for spring 2009. Luckily for your budget, you won’t have to spend a lot to wear this versatile look. Beat the rain, wind and fashion snobs this spring with one of these stylish – yet wallet-friendly – trench coat picks.

Actually, Trenches and coats are not a new trend. Way back in the 1920s to 1940s, femme fatale Greta Garbo graced the cinema screens in classy, yet sexy trench coats.

Some trends never die out. They become classics and the trench coat is one such classic.

This year Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent present their trendy feminine coats. Both has it’s own signature.

Marc Jacobs presents his extra feminine coat-dress. It’s completely sensitive! Scarf-belt is an excellent decision for special evenings. While, The trenches and coats from Yves Saint Laurent are a tender femininity. Black elegance decored with ornament or belt as an obligatory accessory stressing the thing waist. It’s really chic and dashing! Calvin Klein presents the line of light colors and structural lines for Spring 2009, so does Ralph Lauren.

Today’s trench coats have feminine details (even ruffles). They also come in modern fabrics like patent leather and bold, unconventional, bright colors like a stunning scarlet, Furthermore, we have to focus not only on colors but we have to choose the right accessories and footwear for an amazing combination.

One of the things I like most about the trench coat is its sheer versatility. I mean, you can wear it with just about everything. Actually, the timeless appeal of trench coats lie in you. If you can’t resist the temptation of wearing skirt then you can choose a cropped or a short trench coat depending on your taste. Wear that over your pencil skirt for work. Over your office suit. A trench coat looks proper enough for the office, even as it keeps you warm. Wear it on weekends with polo ralph pants and boots. or on a date over a sheer dress. Trench coats go with everything. I love to pair a faded jeans with my gorgeous Ralph Lauren hot pink trench with a sheen. Faux mother of pearl buttons and belt buckle. So pretty! Finally, Get a hairstyle of fringe cut along with sunglasses, and pick up a cute shoulder bag.

So, if you are getting just one thing for yourself this Spring and especially if you aren’t shaped like a runway model, get yourself a trench. Because the trench coat is godsend.

Holiday trends

Here's my list:

1. One of my favorite holiday trends is going for a gold, metallic look. I think that it is so elegant and timeless to wear gold, plus it stands out in a sea of what will inevitably be basic black. A gold dress looks luxurious and rich, and paired with the right accessories and makeup, it can look absolutely stunning. The look will also look AMAZING with a tan (Than is a tan - not red - so please, please remember sun tan and don't O.T.T) Believe me lobster red is one trend no-one call pull of :)

2. I also love the Maxi dress - yes still around this Summer and looking just as good. Its fab, i mean to start with it holds a multitude of sins (maybe save this number for your last night esp if going on an all inclusive!!!)

3. Floral dress, A new one for this Summer weather is be short or long, vintage or new, casual or smart anything works. Give it a go. And if you don't want a whole floral outfit and maybe think its too girly just try a floral top or skirt or even just a skirt or bag!

5. The Sequined dress, I think this looks ever so sexy, All Saints have some amazing varieties however a tad on the expensive side, We have a small collection on our website for you to try and much more affordable: ModeDevoted

6. Be Bold Choose a color that makes a statement for spring. Try hot pink or intense yellow, and always remember the power of purple.

How to Select a Bikini?

Most of us have been cooped up indoors throughout the entire winter season and just can’t wait to suntain and take a refreshing dive in the pool or in beaches. With the summer season approaching, it’s definitely time to buy a new bathing suit. Even if it is snowing in your area, it is warm somewhere on earth and you can bet that some are in a frenzy about getting their bodies in shape for the new bikinis of the season; perhaps even one with a classic thong design. Not only does the body need to be in shape but you also need to know what will or will not look good on you. Here are a few tips to follow

When shopping for a bikini, Always take the time to obtain your current, correct measurements! Doing so will ensure that you will receive the proper size swimsuit – please keep in mind that due to hygenic reasons, there can be NO exchanges on swimwear if it doesn’t fit. Swimwear sizing is NOT standardized between brands and manufacturers, so the same size medium from another company may be completely different from a medium from us!

Keep in mind that swimwear is supposed to fit tightly when it’s dry – most all swimwear increases up to a half-size when wet. Ever see someone with ‘droopy drawers’ at the beach? Likely the result of purchasing a swimsuit that was a size too big. Getting your accurate size information will prevent this from happening to you! This may sound like a rather obvious statement, but many people don’t really see that. A woman may be a size 6 but there is still the possibility of those dreadful love handles

.

One major point of contention is how the top of the bikini fits, as there are many different shapes and styles. If you want to enhance the bust, then try on bikinis that have a bandeau top as they do enhance a smaller bust; possibly choose one with a bright pattern. Bold textures and prints give the illusion of a larger bust.

Remember, if you are wearing bikini swimwear that you feel good about and are comfortable in, then you may feel a little better about it when you are throwing your near naked body out there for the world to see. It also helps if you take a good friend with you when trying on bathing suits as they are more likely to be honest in their opinion.

So what do we think is hot for Summer 2009?

There are a number of summer trends, but here are the ones that I think will score highly in the office and dating department.

1. Cocktail Shorts
A variation on last year’s theme of Business Shorts. Silky shorts become glamorous, baggy and even shorter, in this latest trend in sexy evening wear. Unless you want to distract the waiter, steer clear of these on a first date!

2. Fluid Flares
In complete contrast to last year’s sleek silhouette, elegant wide-legged or flared trousers are practical and wearable for most figures. Teemed with a fluid jacket, this is a much more sophisticated and feminine style, allowing you to swish through the office or wow your prospective date. Great for covering up arms and legs too. Influenced by the 1930's and 40's, wear them belted and slightly higher on the waist, to stop them slouching. Top flares off with a straw trilby, Linday Lohan style, for added effect.

3. Grecian Gowns
This has to be a favorite fashion trend this year as “goddess dressing” can work well with so many shapes and sizes. With a variation on styles, Grecian glamour is achievable with tunics, toga-style mini dresses or floaty and sophisticated full-length gowns.

4. Something See-Through
With the season’s transparent fabrics and soft layered looks it is easy to feel like a princess. This year designers push the trend for sheer fabrics to the limit but go for loose and floaty rather than tight and clingy. Radical see-through skirts and pants are best avoided unless worn with boy shorts underneath. Sheer blouses work well if tastefully worn over camisole or pretty T-shirt tops.
If you want to make a good impression in the office or on a date, remember, subtle is sexy; vulgar is not! With spring and summer's softer, flowing styles there is plenty of choice this year for all shapes and sizes.

5. Statement Shoes
If you are on the short side, then a pair of statement shoes will be a prerequisite to accompany the flowing trousers or a long floaty dress. Witfhout a pair of four-inch stilettos or chunky heels, it is unlikely that you will have the height to truly carry off these styles.
Statement shoes don’t have to have be high to be trendy. Sophisticated ballet flats look great for the office. This year there is an amazing array of styles and heights; the only golden rule is they must have this season's fabulous decoration.

6. Stars and Checks
Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, Gucci and Jaeger are just some of the main fashion houses giving their outfits the star treatment , according to Marie Claire. Scattered star print frocks, star appliqué on jackets and dresses, with brooches and bold necklaces providing a twinkle.

7. Full and Flared Skirts
Knee-length flirty and feminine skirts provide an air of practicality, flaring out from narrow belts and fitted tops. Admittedly these fall more into the dating than work category but are a marked improvement on the wearability of last year’s unwearable bubble skirt!

8. Pajamas
“What could be softer than clothes fit for sleeping in?” declares Sander’s in Marie Claire. Lingerie-inspired slip dresses are the order of the day and designers Marc Jacob and Stella McCartney are major influences in “duvet-day-dressing.” However, the pajama trend is not for the faint hearted, as walking around, showing off your underwear, may send the wrong message to your beau! Definately impractical for work but seriously saucy!
