Katrina is the new "Jumma Chumma" girl

Taking over from the original Jhumma Chumma girl Kimi Kartar is Bollywood's barbie Katrina Kaif.
The actress is all set to recreate the magic as she will be seen gyrating to a thousand beer mugs' taps.

According to reports, the bombshell has worked hard on her body to achieve the perfectly toned look.
The results will only be seen once the epic item song releases.

The original Jhumma Chumma from the movie Hum never fails to tempt us into a frenzy. Kimi Kartar and Amitabh Bachchan created a never before seen bindaas magic on-screen.

If we go down the memory lane to recount some of the classiest dance numbers, there are a few which always come to our mind
Helen is the original item girl. From Mera naam chin chin chu... to Mehbooba mehbooba, this Anglo-Indian beauty never failed to set the screen on fire.

Aruna Irani's hot number from the movie Caravan still manages to stay in our hearts even after decades.

Bindu's coveted third place is undeniable as the ravishing lady helped pave the way for the item-number culture in Indian cinema.

When it comes to the younger generation of Bollywood divas, Madhuri Dixit definitely pops in our minds sooner than anyone. Dhak dhak, Ek do teen and choli ke peechhe almost demand that you start shaking a leg.

The only one who can possibly follow Madhuri is Aishwarya Rai. Kajra re was one of her most popular item numbers as she burnt up the screens with her incredible style.

Crazy kiya re from Dhoom 2 has Ash gyrating in a racy outfit and increasing the temperatures.

The metrosexual urban Bollywood men have also ventured into this area and with a bang! Hrithik Roshan, who dances like a marionette, is seen with Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2, which got him overwhelming female attention.

Khallas was only the beginning for Isha Koppikar who shot to fame instantly with this number.
Later we also saw her wooing the audience in Ishq Samandar.

Kareena Kapoor sizzled with Yeh mera dil in Farhan Akhtar's slick remake of Don. She says she can't dance, but we surely disagree!

Mallika Sherawat made a surprise appearance in Guru. The item number was the lightest moment of the film based on Dhirubhai Ambani's life. The bindass babe did not shy away from the camera as she flaunted her perfect body proudly.

The original new -generation item number was delivered by Malaika Arora Khan and our very own King Shah Rukh Khan. The two jived to the beat on the top of a train and left the audience asking for more.
Later they teamed up again for a number in Kaal.

The epic item song Darde Disco saw the new-improved Shahrukh Khan with the much-talked about 6-pack and all females were left swooning.

Yana Gupta made an attempt to re-enter Bollywood with Babuji Zara Dhire Chalo. The song was a huge hit but didn't help Yana establish herself again.

Shamita Shetty got a great response to Sharara sharara in Mere Yaar ki Shaadi Hai. Now she probably wants a piece of her big sister's fame.

Bipasha Basu created a frenzy with her Beedi Jalai Le from Omkara. Shakespeare was turning in his grave while Bipasha was reaping the benefits.

Banned Indian ads

If there was a hotness quotient for advertising, most Indian ads would at best rate as tepid. But then, for the authorities even the tepid occassionally gets unbearably hot and the cold water follows soon. We take a look back at the ads that were deemed unfit for public consumption.

The most notorious ad that still remains embedded in the consciousness of the ad-aware Indian is that of a nude Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre along with a python for company.

The campaign with the two models attired only in Tuffs Shoes rubbed many the wrong way, and for the ones growing up in the 1990s - an eye opener.

In the same not-so-innocent 1990s Pooja Bedi played a hot game of chess and had a steamy shower with Marc Robinson while Viveka Babajee and Inder Sudan went wild under a waterfall, all to sell condoms appropriately branded - Kamasutra. This made Pooja Bedi a household name and was perhaps Viveka Babajee's solitary claim to fame.

The ads created quite a furore - questions were asked in the Parliament, banned on Doordarshan and complaints sent to the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).

The October 1991 issue of Debonair magazine sold out in a matter of days. The reason, the issue carried ads, featuring Pooja Bedi and Marc Robinson, for the just-launched Kamasutra Condoms.

In a 2008 directive to the television channels, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had prohibited the "transmission or re-transmission" of the "vulgar" Lux Cozy advertisement.

The "lucky" scantily clad man in the ad - Lux Cozy has the tagline Apna Luck Pehen Ke Chalo - is ogled at and gets a peck on the cheek by a grateful female for "finding" her lost dog.

This was not the first time that the Ministry was up in arms against advertisements that it found incongruous with the standards of decency and propriety.

Lux Cozy was also in the news in July 2007 when the I&B Ministry had issued orders banning it ad along with the much discussed Amul Macho Yeh to bada twaing hain ad. A few months earlier, in April 2007, orders were issued against the broadcasting of Gen-X undergarments

Back in 1998, when Bipasha Basu was still a model and Dino Morea used to be her boyfriend, the two got cozy for an ad for Swiss underwear brand Calida. The image of Dino tugging Bipasha's panty with his teeth was too hot to handle for the then Minister of State for Cultural Affairs, Anil Deshmukh. The caption accompanying the saucy pictures read, "And you thought your appetite for indulgence could only be whetted by Swiss chocolates".

An ad for VIP Frenchie X underwear showing a girl entering a room to find a young man in his underwear was also deemed obscene.

Besides underwear, the other product that on the crosshairs of regulators is condoms. For a copywriter, it is quite challenging to churn out subtle ads for male contraceptives, when the nature of the product itself is explicit. The Pyar Hua Iqurar Hua ad for Nirodh condoms is only an exception.

The airing of DKT's XXX Flavoured Dotted Condoms ads during the ICC Champions Trophy in 2007 had ruffled the feathers of both the Advertising Standards Council of India and the Censor Board.

The complaint registered with the ASCI reads, "Visuals of 'a woman sensually and orally enjoying the flavours of fruits.' are obscene and vulgar"

The surrogate advertisement for AC Black Whisky (the advertised product was AC Black Apple Juice) had stirred up a bit of controversy in the early 2000s.

In the ad a man takes a sip of his drink and looks at an attractive woman on the other side of the room, and her neckline gets lower and diminishes with every sip.

As he sips for the kill, he finds his shirt open. The woman is also playing the same game. The tagline says, Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai (Anything is possible). The TVC was subsequently taken off air.

Malaika Arora had met future husband Arbaaz Khan while both were shooting for an ad for MR Coffee. The ad, due to its sexual overtones, generated quite a controversy. Even Amul came up with a parody ad around it.

There exist stringent directives for advertisers to keep in mind before they release an ad for public consumption.
The Programme Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, prohibits "carriage of programmes in cable service, which offend good taste or decency; contain anything vulgar/obscene and are not suitable for unrestricted public exhibition."

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), a self-regulatory voluntary organisation of the advertising industry, also has a code in place that asks advertisers "To ensure that advertisements are not offensive to generally accepted standards of public decency. Advertisements should contain nothing indecent, vulgar or repulsive which is likely, in the light of generally prevailing standards of decency and propriety, to cause grave or widespread offence."

In more liberal societies, advertisers have it a little easier, but glancing through the history of Indian advertising it is obvious that Indian advertisers do not shy away from adding some oomph to their copies.

Though government orders can put such "offending" ads off-air, they remain a big hit on the Internet. And banning them only adds to their aura on the relatively unregulated Wild Wild Web.

Women take the lead.

Bipasha costs a bomb

The stage is set: Noted designer Rocky S would be in charge of Katrina's costumes while Bosco-Caesar will be choreographing her act.

Sizzling: Not the one to be left behind, Katrina Kaif is also rumoured to have quoted one crore for this year's performance.

Trendsetter: Mallika came to J W Marriott in 2006 in a diamond encrusted nude outfit.

Queen of oomph: Mallika Sherawat apparently charged a staggering amount for dancing in a titilating outfit, two years back.

Money's honey: The sultry Bipasha Basu is believed to have charged Rs 90 lakhs for the act last year.

Costliest!: Bipasha Basu has been offered a whopping Rs 1.5 crore to usher in 2009. This is the highest amount an actress has ever quoted and got for a new year's performance

Title or no title, 'Billo Rani' is in a comfortable position right now because she has already been part of the hit Race team

The big question is, if Ranbir's comment will give Bipasha - formerly considered the hottest woman - a much needed boost as Deepika recently won the Maxim Hottest Woman title

Competition is in the air as Ranbir needs this hit more than Deepika, thanks to the blues he received last year with Saawariya.

Bachna Ae Haseeno will be Deepika's second release, her first being the biggest hit of last year, Om Shanti Om.

Rumour has it that Ranbir said he prefers Bipasha over Deepika. We wonder if this statement will bring yet another controversy to the lives of Ranbir and Deepika who've been the centre of media attention since they admitted their relationship.

Ranbir is on a lucky streak with Bachna Ae Haseeno, as he gets cozy with three beauties, Deepika, Bipasha and Minissha.
