University of Washington researchers say gummy bears containing the sugar substitute xylitol may work as a tool to combat cavities in children.
In a six-week study conducted in Washington state, gummy bears infused with xylitol seemed to reduce cavity-causing bacteria on children's teeth.
Xylitol is a naturally-occurring sugar alcohol approved by the FDA. Gum with xylitol is already on the market, but researchers wanted something more appealing for youngsters.
If it turns out chocolate covered marshmallows are a dietary aid, I may pass out.
