Salman prefers Asin over Katrina

Ever since their coming together in the film LONDON DREAMS, Asin and Salman Khan's chemistry has been under the public scanner. Now, after their much talked about bonding during the shoot of the film, the latest buzz is that the equation between the two has progressed to the next level.

According to the reliable sources, "Salman and Asin have hit it big on the personal front. Both the actors have become thick friends post the shoot of LONDON DREAMS. Now, Salman seems to be taking more interest in Asin than Katrina and it seems the new friendship between the two is growing by the day."

Though, earlier it was reported that Ajay Devgan is Asin's good friend, but now it seems the actress has the backing of the muscular Khan as far as her personal life is concerned. Well, for the moment Katrina surely has a new competitor to deal with.

Wasim Akram to coach Akshay Kumar?

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram will reportedly make his acting debut in Nikhil Advani's next film, Patiala House. The film stars Akshay Kumar .

Patiala House is apparently based on cricket and Wasim will play coach to Akki's cricket team. It will be shot in London and is expected to release next year. The music will be scored by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics will be penned by Sameer.

The film also stars Rishi Kapoor , Dimpla Kapadia and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi heroine Anushka Sharma .

Nikhil Advani and Akshay had last come together in the disastrous Chandni Chowk to China . He had earlier directed the hit Kal Ho Naa Ho and the dud Salaam-E-Ishq .

New man in Sonam Kapoor’s life?

Sonam Kapoor seems to have found her dream man.She is currently shooting for Karan Johar’s “I Hate Love Stories” which is being directed by debutant Punit Malhotra.

If stories from the sets are to be believed Sonam has apparently got quite close to Punit and the two are said to be dating each other.

Punit, who is designer Manish Malhotra’s nephew, was besotted by Sonam right from the time he met her to narrate the script. Luckily for him, Sonam too responded well.

The two have started spending a lot of time together. They often meet up after the shoot for coffee or dinner.

Sonam, who hasn’t been steady as far as her relationships are considered, is taking it all at a slow pace and keeping everything under the wraps as she does not want dad Anil Kapoor to know about it, at least not right now.

Katrina to do a cameo on Salman’s behest

Producer Ravi Chopra is all set to launch his two sons in his upcoming film “Kohinoor”. The movie marks the debut of his son Abhay as the director and Kapil as an actor.

Till now, the film wasn’t able to roll as there was no heroine.Ravi Chopra was dead sure that Priyanka Chopra would give her nod. After all she is his family friend Ashok Chopra’s daughter. But Priyanka wasn’t keen on doing the film and hence refused politely.

Post that Ravi got busy searching for a heroine. He then approached Genelia, who readily agreed to do the film.Buzz is that Salman has promised Ravi Chopra that he will make a significant appearance in the film. Not only his appearance, he has even assured Ravi of Katrina doing a cameo in the film, which will also be quite significant.

Salman still seems to rule Katrina’s moves!

The reason why Kareena Kapoor's films flop

A year ago this question would never have made it to any Bollywood producer's thought process, but the time has come to think about it - just how bankable is Kareena Kapoor?

Like Akshay Kumar, Kareena has doled out flop after flop from mid 2007 all the way to the end of 2009. Sample these films - Tashan, Golmaal Returns, Kambakkht Ishq, Mai aur Mrs Khanna, Kurbaan - they all bombed at the box office. Some might say Golmaal and KIshq made decent money, but what about the ROI? Making the money back doesn't mean the film is a hit, it simply means it flopped. What's more, the films where she 'guest appeared' in, 'Halla Bol', 'Luck by Chance' and 'Billu' all nosedived as well. To add to it, no one even watched 'Roadside Romeo', the animated film that she provided her voice for.

So what is going wrong? Are these bad films? To some extent, yes. 'Golmaal 2' and 'KIshq' were atrocious, one would have to be a lunatic to assume those would be hits with today's sophisticated junta. 'Mai aur Mrs Khanna' was terrible as well, with its flimsy script and half-baked premise. But what about the 'Saifeena' moniker? Bollywood promotes the Saif-Kareena jodi like its the best thing since sliced bread. Remember the vomitous 'Tashan'? That film was made to only cash in on the new buzz of the 'hot' Saif-Kareena jodi. 'Roadside Romeo' had the duo for the same reason. The same goes for the recent dud 'Kurbaan'.

And what happened? It turns out only a few people are interested in watching 'Saifeena' on screen, the rest need a decent entertainment product for the hundreds of Rupees they pay for at multiplexes. 'Tashan' was unwatchable, and 'Romeo' was underwhelming. 'Kurbaan' was not so bad, but it was shoddy and had too many plotholes to make for a serious drama pitched in as a film with a lot of attention to detail. Is marketing to blame here? Hell no! 'Saifeena' films are given humongous promotions. 'Tashan' posters were everywhere, and you can't possibly forget the bare-back poster from 'Kurbaan' which made its way to every nook and corner of the country. The MNS even helped with the film's promotion by creating a big fuss over the alleged 'nudity' in it. Remember the bikini scene in 'Tashan'? Did it help sell tickets? Not by a long shot.

End result? These films were just not good enough. 'Jab we met' was extremely entertaining, will '3 Idiots' follow suit? Or will it bomb due to the Kareena curse? In any case we can expect 'Saifeena' on Twitter anytime soon; Priyanka Chopra began Tweeting to promote 'Kaminey'; Shahid, Genelia and director Ken Ghosh recently became Tweet-happy (hint: Chance pe Dance).

Shahid Kapoor took his shirt off for a fleeting moment in “Kaminey” and caused many to lust. Now, he’s revealing much more of his eight-packs in his upcoming movie “Chance Pe Dance”.

Fans can feast on Shahid’s body which is on show in these stills from his next movie, scheduled to release on January 12, 2010.

Directed by Ken Ghosh and a UTV Motion Pictures production, “Chance Pe Dance” is the story of a talented and passionate young struggling actor called Sameer Behl (Shahid). Positive and brimming with energy, Sameer juggles various jobs while working towards getting his big break in the industry. During his struggle he meets Sonia Sharma (Genelia D’Souza) who is a choreographer.

Just when Sameer is promised his big break, he is left without a house as he cannot pay his rent. Not one to lose heart Sam starts living in his rickety old car and starts teaching dance in a school to young kids who have never won any dance competition. He hates kids and the kids hate dancing.

The struggle in life continues as the director who was to launch Sameer now decides to choose his hero through a talent hunt. Sam is shattered but he diverts his focus towards the kids. Getting over his initial dislike of children, Sam not only emotionally bonds with them, but also helps them win a prestigious inter-school dance competition and gets their confidence back - aided by the spirited and beautiful Sonia.

Tina urges Sameer to enter the reality hunt, with the love and support from Sonia and the kids, Sameer emerges a winner and eventually becomes what he was destined to be, a superstar.

It is the same in the Indian dressing room too. "Among my teammates, Harbhajan Singh is my biggest fan. He tells me that he doesn't want to miss a ball when I am batting. Rahul Dravid has a heart a big one. After a strenuous net session, he walked into the Cooch Behar Hall to grace the book release function of journalist Rajan Bala, who did not live to see the publication of the book, Days Well Spent. Dravid stayed away from the dais and was happy to be among the audience to listen to his former teammate Sanjay Manjrekar, who released the book. Manjrekar showed what a fine man he is too. When Bala was in his prime, he wrote a story on how Sanjay's father Vijay slapped a kid on an India schoolboys tour to England. The BCCI ensured Vijay did not get any managerial assignments after that.

Sanjay of course, held no grudges and when Bala requested him to release the book in Mumbai, he didn't say no. Pity, Bala is no more!

When Shahrukh and Hrithik bonded

Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan are known to always be in competition with each other but on Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra's wedding reception they were seen bonding.

At the wedding reception the Khans (Shahrukh, Gauri, Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan) and the Roshans (Hrithik, Rakesh Roshan and Sussanne Roshan) came in one large group and it was time to bond.

Prior to the reception the Roshans and their family members went to Mannat for a get-together with Shahrukh and Gauri. They came to Grand Hyatt in a large group to wish the newly married couple.

Once they were done with Shilpa and Raj's reception they headed straight back to Mannat to continue with the party. Bollywood stars really are party animals.

"Please take me back," thesun.co.uk quoted her as saying. She also apologised for being a "bitch" to him and pleaded for a reunion, saying: "I messed up."

A friend of Andre said: "She said she was sorry for being such a bitch to him. She asked him straight out if there was any chance they could get back together and pleaded for a reunion. She was telling him she just couldn't stop thinking of him and their life together."

Andre's friend also revealed that Katie Price, also known as Jordan, told her ex-husband that her romance with cross-dressing cage fighter Alex Reid had been "a mistake" and was over.

Katie Price made the call Monday moments after quitting ITV's "I'm A Celebrity" reality show in Australia.

It is thought Andre, 36, was the second person she phoned after her mum Amy. Jordan, 31, told him that her time in the jungle had brought memories of their love flooding back.

The two met and fell for each other in 2004's "I'm A Celeb". They went on to marry and have two kids - Junior, four, and Princess Tiaamii, two. The kids are being looked after by Andre at his Brighton home along with seven-year-old Harvey, Jordan's son by footballer Dwight Yorke.

"Katie told him she even dreamed of him at night but would wake up to realise he wasn't there, and feel sad. She was being the Katie Pete fell in love with in the first place," said the friend.

The friend told how Andre was shocked by the call and felt sick Jordan had "dared" to ask him to take her back.

"He just assumed she wanted to speak to the kids, which she eventually did. But then she came out with all this stuff about how she missed him and knew she had been an idiot. The idea of a reunion is not something Pete would even consider. They are divorced and that's it," said the friend.

A spokesman for Jordan confirmed the news saying: "Katie did speak with Pete, primarily about the children."

Revamping T-Shirts

There are a ton of things you can do to revive old tees - cut off the neckline to give it an '80s feel, cut an upside down V-shape from the top of the collar to each armpit to make a halter, or chop off the sleeves for a tank. If you want to get more creative, take the sleeves that you've just cut and snip them along the seam. Sew along the raw side (the cut side) of the sleeve, but let the fabric gather so it ruffles to make a puffed sleeve. Then sew them back onto your shirt. You can also cut a T-shirt from armpit to armpit to make a tube top. Sew on a band of fabric from another shirt to the top of your new tube top to add some extra color and flair!

Things to be thankful for, 2009 (part three of three)

The other two parts are posted in my other blogs.

And now, in no particular order:

House. Still that rarest of things: Something popular with the general public that I like, too. Thus far even though I may not always like what the characters are doing, I can usually believe that it is what the characters would do. At least as far as the characters I care about, which is basically House, Wilson and Cuddy, that is. The others are pretty much interchangeable.

The promise of new Aaron Sorkin-written TV series and screenplays. He's still got more hits (American President, West Wing, Sports Night) on his stats sheet than misses (Studio 60)

Now that you're wondering WTF that really is, read this.

I may be wrong about this (though I hope not), but I think more people are coming around to my conclusion that Joe Lieberman is a two-faced boob, and the more we treat him as anything more than that, the more undeserving dignity we lend.

On balance, I am still certainly thankful that President Obama is in the White House instead of Senator McCain. It's just that, as Mark Evanier pointed out not long ago, the pass Obama gets for not being George W. Bush is not going to last forever.

If he sells out real change for cosmetic in health care, if he chooses political expediency over the lives of our soldiers threatened in Afghanistan...god help him.

Getting back to things I'm thankful for, of course, those suspicious Canadlians.
